Bus to the Downs

A trip to one of Brighton & Hove's areas of natural beauty, such as Devil's Dyke or Ditchling Beacon can be done easily by bus. So why not ... take the bus for a walk?

Breeze up to the Downs - services 77, 78 and 79

This is a regular bus service connecting the city to walking trails on the Downs. Ditchling Beacon, Stanmer Park and Devil's Dyke are the three featured locations. Timetables and lots of ideas for your visit are available in the leaflets below.


 

Service 77 to Devil’s Dyke runs half hourly every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday. From 24 June to 2 September this service runs daily. Download a podcast or route guide using the links below or pick up a printed route guide on the bus. The podcast and route guide will tell you all about what you can see from the top of the bus!

Service 78 to Stanmer Park runs hourly on Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday. 

Service 79 to Ditchling Beacon runs hourly on Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday. Two spaces to carry bikes on board bus are now available.

These services are provided by a partnership between Brighton & Hove City Council, The National Trust and the South Downs National Park Authority.

South Downs and Sussex Downs Bus Walks A series of six leaflets offering 18 easy-to-follow walks on the stunning South Downs around Brighton & Hove.  All walks are easily accessible from the city’s frequent main bus network (each walk description details the relevant bus info).
