Bus fares 

You can save money on Brighton & Hove buses if you buy your tickets online or in advance from shops. SuperSAVER and citySAVER tickets are available online from the Brighton & Hove bus company website.

  • Single journey fare is £1.80 (£1.50 within city centre) 
  • New £1 fare introduced on short journeys (see below for more details)
  • Unlimited day travel available from £3.60 - £3 if you buy this online
  • 7 day tickets available for £13
  • Concessionary rates for seniors, people with disabilities, children and teenagers (application required)
  • Children under 14 and teens of any age with a Bus ID/Bus ID+ all travel for a discounted flat fare of 90p. There is a 50p flat fare in the evenings and weekends for Bus ID/Bus ID+ holders.
  • A new tourist fare between Brighton Station and Churchill Square, Brighton Pier or the Royal Pavilion has been introduced for just £1.

Short hop fares

Short hop fares have been introduced across the city for a £1.  Popular journeys such as Hove Station to Hove Town Hall, Downs Park to Portslade and Fiveways to London Road will reduce in price from the current citywide standard fare of £1.80.

Night buses

  • N7 and N25 is £2.20
  • Nightclub buses N98, N99 the fare is £3.00
  • N69 (Brighton to Haywards Heath) the fare is £5.00

The Big Lemon Bus

The Big Lemon's aim is to develop friendly, affordable and environmentally-friendly bus services in order to give those without cars the freedom to get around easily and encourage those with cars to use public transport instead in order to help reduce global warming.  Their buses run on 100% locally sourced used cooking oil in order to minimise their impact on the environment.  Click here to visit the website.

  • Route 42 operates between Brighton City Centre and the Universities of Brighton and Sussex

Concessionary Travel

Concessionary travel is now available across the country allowing anyone over 60 or with a certain disability to travel for free for anywhere in England on a time-tabled local bus route. Find out more about how to obtain a concessionary bus pass from the council's website.  


Talking bus stops awards  

Brighton & Hove's award winning talking Bus Stops continue to achieve national recognition. The project has been shortlisted for the Telecomms innovation category of this year’s Good Communication Awards.

Blind and partially sighted people can use the hi-tech signs to receive spoken information on services, including:

  • which bus stop they are at
  • which buses are coming
  • when they will arrive

Audible announcements can be activated by a special key fob at over 20 bus stops in the city and are used by more than 2,000 residents and visitors who are blind or have a visual impairment. EasyLink

EasyLink is a door-to-door transport service. EasyLink services are aimed at people who can't access conventional public transport or who have mobility problems.
