Streets for People - Car Free Day 2008 - Sunday 21 September
Streets for People is a free event to celebrate European Mobility Week 2008 and aims to promote healthier and more active ways of living in Brighton & Hove. We're creating a pedestrian friendly space in the centre of Brighton and providing music, dancing, entertainment and lots of activities for all ages. We'll be encouraging residents and visitors to come by bus, on foot or by bike to the event and enjoy our city at its best.
What's on? Sunday 21 Sept 12noon to 5pm
Free bicycle rickshaw rides
Take a free rickshaw ride between the piers to enjoy Brighton's beautiful seafront and cycle lane.
Live music stage
Little East Street will host a live music stage to entertain with local bands and musicians throughout the afternoon.
Beach and Victorian Fair
We're creating a sandy beach area in front of Brighton town hall complete with deckchairs. The area will have a Victorian Fair area full of colour and curiosities and a magnificent Victorian bannerline with pictures of mermaids and sea monsters. Have a Victorian make-over or paint a beach hut.
