Useful bus information
You can save money on services run by Brighton & Hove bus company if you buy your tickets online or in advance from shops. SuperSAVER and citySAVER tickets are available online from the Brighton & Hove bus company website.
- Single journey fare is £2 (£1.70 within city centre, see below)
- Centre fare - £1.70 this extends from Hove Town Hall - Montefiore Road - BHASVIC - Preston Circus - The Avenue/Lewes Road - Race Hill - Arundel Road
- Shorthop £1.20 fare introduced on short journeys (see below for more details)
- Saver tickets - include unlimited day travel available from driver are £4.00. Reductions available if bought in advance online - £3.20 Buy online from Brighton & Hove bus company
- 7 day tickets available for £15 (this is the online fare) or in advance from shops for £17.50
- Concessionary rates for seniors, people with disabilities, children and teenagers (application required)
- Children under 14 and teens of any age with a Bus ID all travel for a discount of 50%. There is a 50p flat fare in the evenings and weekends for Bus ID holders. Visit the BusID page for more details.
- A tourist fare is available between Brighton Station and Churchill Square, Brighton Pier or the Royal Pavilion for just £1.
Short hop fares - £1.20
Short hop fares have been introduced across the city for £1.20. Popular journeys such as Hove Station to Hove Town Hall, Downs Park to Portslade and Fiveways to London Road. For more information visit Brighton & Hove Bus company's website.
Night buses - ticket prices
- N7 and N25 is £2.50
- Nightclub buses N97, N98, N99 the fare is £4.00
- and on the N12, N29, N69 it is £6.00 (but £4 as far as Seaford on the N12 or Patcham on the N69).

The Big Lemon Bus
The Big Lemon's aim is to develop friendly, affordable and environmentally-friendly bus services in order to give those without cars the freedom to get around easily and encourage those with cars to use public transport instead in order to help reduce global warming. Their buses run on 100% locally sourced used cooking oil in order to minimise their impact on the environment. Visit the Big Lemon website for more details.
- Single fare is £1.80 per journey or £2 for the whole day.

- Route 42 operates between Brighton City Centre and the Universities of Brighton and Sussex. Route 44 runs between Brighton, Varley Halls and Brighton University.
- The 42 and 44 run during university term times only.
