White Night 2010

As part of this year's White Night celebrations on Saturday 30 October, three mass participation bike rides took place around historic landmarks of the city promoting safer cycling at night. 100 cyclists took part in the rides and they were cheered on by onlookers and those enjoying Brighton & Hove's third White Night.

At the centre of each ride were four bicycle sidecar creations, topped by coloured and illuminated paper lanterns. These were the head and tail lights of the procession, with the remainder made up of members of the public, wearing their brightest clothes and sporting fairy lights and bike lights!

The rides created a magical atmosphere and had the very real benefits of a safe and accessible event for all ages to enjoy the city at a relaxingly slow pace and promote cycling safely at night.

The ride was organised by Bike for Life, costumes were made by local artist Sarah Parsons and the ride was funded by Cycling England and the city council's journeyon campaign.
